Despite dealing quite naturally with a relationship between a 12 year-old boy and a lonely gardener, Twelve does not avoid controversy. The two of them are characters in need of affection and start an ambiguous relation that will trespass boundaries of age and genres. Que has brilliantly constructed the period in a gay boy's life when he doesn't quite know if he should hold back or dive forward, because the world ahead is too unknown but also too mighty to ignore.
