Graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University and later took a Master’s degree in Film. He started his career as comic book editor and scriptwriter while introducing himself into the world of animation by working as a special effects technician and stop motion animator. He made various carton shorts before moving on to full length features with the McDull saga.
